BULLETIN OF OCTOBER IN LINS. - PASTORAL WORD: PASTOREI MY SHEEP AND TAKE CARE
OF MY SHEEP. (John. 21:15 -17.
My sisters
and my brothers today I would like to reflect with you on the topic above,
because it messes with all of us. The Lord Jesus is in a conversation with
Peter very serious and made on the basis of questions. But the intriguing thing
is that Jesus makes the same question three times. Note one small detail. The
first time Jesus while having the positive response of Peter says: Herding
(feed my sheep). Already both times following the have the same positive
response of Peter Jesus uses the term take care of my sheep. Dear and loved
ones without going into theological discussions about let's consider the two
terms used by Jesus. Feeding the sheep and taking care of the sheep. In fact
within this context, the two words are synonymous. Herding or to pasture is the
same thing to take care of. Dear and beloved exercising the Pastorate consists
of as a result of the love of Christ, take good care of the flock of God. This
is so serious work in the Kingdom of God that the Lord says about the same as
the one who takes care of the herd should not handle things of this life. Or be:
the amazing Pastorate for the Lord must be full-time. Things of this life can
disturb the time of caring for the flock of God can distract the pastor. Like a
lot of these words, because the Lord's flock has special needs. In spite often
the sheep being a bit rebellious they are fragile and need to be pastured with
a lot of love and care. But over time, that relationship between sheep and
Pastor/Shepherd and sheep went through some problems and suffered damage that
needs to be repaired. One of them and for me the most serious is that the sheep
don't always treat their pastors with love, the same love receiving them. I
can't believe a pastor called by Jesus Christ to herd the herd wants something
that is not good for his
flock. A true
pastor (Called by the Lord of the Church) until when he fails has an attempt to
make it right. But he is human and therefore liability for errors. The sheep
have learned to see the values of their pastors, love them and if they put available
to them to receive guidance. Unfortunately the not liking some attitudes of
their pastors the sheep generally stay Angry and usually start to murmur. Dear
that is the absence of love. But there are pastors who don't love their herds.
In this case do not serve for the position, because that was the condition
imposed by Jesus Christ to the exercise of the pastoral ministry. There are of course the pastors who don't love
their sheep for sure by the observation of the word clear that is above, do not
love Jesus. It is very sad to hear of a sheep that left the fold to get food in
another pasture and drinking water in another source when its pastor was with
hands extended offering food that they needed. Because he loved his sheep
pastors knew the needs of each one. They knew what the strengths and weaknesses
of each one of the sheep. So nobody better than the Pastor of a flock for the
needs of the flock. I preach in other herds when I am invited and feel very
happy. But I know that I risk to be giving wrong feed not knowing those herds.
But realize that to Minister to other sheep they feel better with the food we
receive from strange Pastor. Maybe it was the change in the menu. But (here in
Brazil especially) the best food is rice and beans every day I realize that my
herd is happier when he hears a strange pastor ministering. Naturally the
motives are the same as when the Minister flocks of other pastures. Loved and
beloved I am absolutely sure that at this moment it is necessary to be rescued
the love of the pastors with their sheep and for the love care and respect of
the sheep to their pastors. Avoid destructive criticism to our pastors, let us
pray for them because they were placed they herd. If they (preachers) are doing the wrong
thing will certainly answer to God. But that doesn't give the sheep the reasons
of rebelling all the time against their pastors.
Thank God I'm herding a church for many years and,
with rare exceptions I'm loved by this church. But even for those who do not
sympathize with me I pray all the time and give them love. My function is this.
Love, love and love. To supply to my people giving them security to breath in
uncertain and insecure in the life, and especially by showing them the path
that leads to eternal life with God. This type of relationship rescue pastor/sheep
and we will see what God can and will do in our churches, families and in our
work of Discipleship. So we're going to be grazed by our pastor and wield
grazing each other. Amen.
