PASTORAL WORD: WHO ARE WE SERVING IN CHURCH? (John 13: 1-20)

My brothers and my sisters today we'll be reflecting on who we are serving in the Church. I think from this discovery we are identifying many things that hinder our walk while Church of Christ. Well. We then see some things in that sense. We know that if we ask the members of Evangelical churches in general the response certainly would be: are we serving Jesus Christ. Theoretically would be correct. Because that's really what we all should be doing and that's what the Lord Jesus expects from each one. But I insist on asking: Are we serving Jesus Christ? But pastor if we are in the Church and we're not serving Jesus Christ who are we serving? What are we doing? I also have asked: what are we doing? Friends and dear just look for our behavior and we will realize that the Church is not our priority. So it's that the we change the church for any program. A stay at the ranch on the day and hour of worship, etc. etc. But pastor, you has something against going to the ranch? Of course not. I said changing the schedule of the Church.

It's very different, because it shows that the Church is not our priority and that is very serious. But let's get back to the original question: who are we serving in church? I would say that in the vast majority of the time we are serving ourselves. Things have to be just the way we like it doesn't matter if God likes it or not. It's how  we think our way, our taste  and not what God wants and likes. Find a way to fit God into what we want it to be or the way we want things to be done. When it's not done the way we like and want we can turn into terrible Whisperers. Now we're serving the Christ we'd find out what pleases the Lord and not that with what we feel well. So I have no problem in saying that most of the time we are in the church what to serve at ourselves. In my humble view that's betrayal of the Lord of the Church, Jesus Christ. He is the master and Lord said he did not come to be served, but to serve. Examine the text in question and see the behavior of Jesus Christ in this sense. At the time the Act of taking the feet of their masters was a task reserved for slaves, servants. When their owners (gentlemen) came to house the servants put a basin of water and washed their feet. That's exactly why Jesus takes the initiative of washing his disciples ' feet, leaving a clear lesson in who's and what's a "Lord" (boss) in the Kingdom of God. It was also why Peter reacts not to initially accept that Jesus wash his feet. This is the lesson of the washing of the feet in terms of Discipleship. The largest church is the one who serves. Peter only accepted until our hands and head were washed by Jesus after Jesus said to him: That I don't wash the feet will have no part with me. Brothers and sisters this text shows us that we are in the Church to serve. This is our mission: to Serve. All the people who are in the Church with another vision are not in the service of the Kingdom of God and there begins the search for be being served and the way you would like it to be done. I'm pretty sure we have to change our view on the Church of Christ and ourselves here as servants of each other, from each other. So we learn, or better: rediscover that disciple-making is possible only through a relationship that involves serving others. We remind you that Jesus had the crowds and the disciples  12, after seventy two by two. And it was at the feet of the disciples that Jesus washed away. Make disciples is service. The others are my targets and not my own interests. I am of Christ and as such my Christ I want in love to do for another, serving. Amen.
